Newsletter - August 2008
Did it help by writing to the Lord Mayor of Exeter? We received a reply from Paul Faulkner (Park & Open Spaces Manager) a few days later stating that the hedges & brambles surrounding Ringswell were the Site Owners Responsibly.
Surprise. surprise and not to many days later the hedges were cut.  Now the surrounding are neat and tidy lets hope that we will not have to wait another 18 months. the point is if you go to the top you might help to get results.  the committee do a great job, but indervidual lobbying helps also.  we have a copy of the Park Homes Fact Sheet August 2006 issued by the Department for Communities and local Government (10 pages).  It makes interesting reading and if any body on site would like a copy please get in touch. On Friday 26th September the coffee morning  will be held at the office will be on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support. This will be part part of a World wide coffee morning on that day and all money raised will go to this worthy cause. Any donations of raffle prizes can be left with the secretary.  Ask your mother, father, sons, and daughters and any off spring to attend this worthy cause REMBER FRIDAY 26th SEPTEMBER 10.30 am at the office.   on the 16th August we held our barbecue at the Heart of Oak.  The attendance was far more than expected and a good time was had by all.  the mini bus was not full but those using it were in no condition to drive( health or drink) and gratefol fot thev transport, the Judges of the garden competion had left  a sealed envelope with the secretaryafter judgeing in pouring rain on Saturday 9th, the winner was Den and Margret of Montgomery. this was a surprise to Den as he did not know that he had been entered  by someone on his behalf.   please keep up your support on the weekly bonus ball.  On October 10th 11th 12th at West Point there is Park Home Show. A couple of Sunday's ago I was bullied into attending a meeting arranged by NAPHR. This was the only suny day of the year! Three hours of listening to all the legal things going through Parliament was not fun! but I now realise the good work they carry out on our behalf. Malcolm has copies of all the new laws regarding: Harrassment, Traud and Fire Safety. If you would like a copy of these please contact him. After the meeting we retired to the bar and a chat with other site representatives, This was much more interesting! There were people from several different sites in the South-West and all had stories to tell. One site in particular has been in the hands as the same site owner as ours for the last 4 years. We think we have problems, but their stories are far worse than ours!! We heard of problems regarding water and electricity, just to name two. Other people there could not praise their site owners enough. Overall, at the end of the day, I think the committee learned a lot as to what could happen in the future and what steps need to be taken to prevent us having to suffer as some sites. Bully boy tacti's and harrassment were also discussed.

Don't forget the 'Garden Competition'. It only costs £2.00 to enter and at least one prize of £50 is on offer! Joan Morrish and Margaret Danks will be involved in judging.

ON A LIGHTER NOTE!

Just a couple of pointers about gardening skills:

A weed is a plant that has mastered every survival skill except for learning to grow in rows.

A man should never plant a garden larger than his wife can manage!

The Lottery Bonus Ball winners are:

Richard, Sandra & Den. Congratulations to all three.

Next meeting will be at the usual time 30th September 2008.
